Vibrational Exercise Therapy
Vibration
Exercise Therapy was originally developed as part of the Soviet
Space Programme. Russian scientists discovered that those cosmonauts
who spent extended amounts of time in space, experienced
significant loss in bone density and muscle tissue due to zero gravity.
Russian researchers
therefore started
experimenting with Vibration Exercise technology, and found that
by using this equipment they could not only stop the loss, but
amazingly they could increase bone density and strengthen muscle
tissue, with a dramatic increase in joint flexibility and joint range of
motion.
Using Vibration Exercise technology, the Russians were able to
set a record of more than 420 days in outer space in 1994/1995.
American astronauts, training on conventional fitness equipment,
were forced to return after just 120 days due to bone and muscle
degeneration. It wasn’t until after the fall of the Iron
Curtain, that Vibration Exercise technology found its way to
other countries.
This innovative and ground-breaking technology has been
subjected to extensive research and studies in over 30
Universities worldwide and also within the European Space Agency.
Today NASA
fully embraces Vibration Exercise technology with much success
which, because of its strengthening effect on bone and muscle
tissue, this technology
has since been refined to enhance the performance of
Olympic athletes.
Two-thirds
of our body is made out of water. The watery
fluids
within and surrounding all our cells makes it easier for
vibrational energies to resonate and 'bio-stimulate' the entire
body.
Vibration
Exercise Therapy utilises a scientifically-calibrated machine
that produces vibrations from the feet up distributing
vibrational energy throughout the entire body. These vibrations result
in rapid and intense muscle fibre contractions at 10-50 times
per second. At Natural Body Healing, we offer a 10-minute
session (for most clients) on a low to moderate speed, and also a 20-minute session (for
advanced-level clients with optimum fitness) on a moderately
intense speed.
Because
both bone
and muscle are strengthened and joint flexibility is increased, this treatment can assist those
suffering from poor bone density, such as osteoporosis.
There are 2 risk factors associated with
osteoporosis: The first
post-menopausal women.
Hormonal changes can make it difficult to maintain bone density.
The second factor is ageing which
applies to all men and women. Family health history and
lifestyle can determine whether you're at risk from developing
osteoporosis.

Research Testimonials
“With
regards to the effect of a 6-month study of whole body vibrational
therapy on hip density, muscle strength, and postural
control in postmenopausal women; vibrational therapy
improved isometric and dynamic muscle strength, +15% and +
16% respectively. It also significantly increased Bone Mass
Density of the hip.”
Laboratory
of Motor Control, Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium.
“As to
the effects of random vibrational therapy on motor neurone
symptoms in Parkinson's disease; tremor and rigidity scores
were improved by 25% and 24%, respectively.”
